Foot Orthotics

Every solid building must have a solid foundation to support and distribute the stress applied to it by the structure above. As the foundations for your body, your feet are no different. They must be able to withstand the pressures of day-to-day life without causing you discomfort or pain.

Incorrect foot alignment can be the cause of many foot-related problems, but can also affect other joints, including the knees, hips and spine.

What are foot orthotics?

Foot orthotics are supports that fit into your shoes to help accommodate structural irregularities, allowing your feet, knees, hips and back to function at their maximum potential.

Why would someone be prescribed foot orthotics?

Amongst many other musculoskeletal conditions, evidence suggests that when correctly diagnosed, appropriately manufactured foot orthotics can help with:

  • Flat feet/Overpronation
  • Plantar-fasciitis
  • Heel spurs
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Arch pain
  • Pain in the balls of the feet
  • Bunions
  • High Arches
  • Ankle pain & instability
  • Knee pain & instability
  • Growth related disorders of the legs and feet
  • Shin splints
  • Leg length differences
  • Hip and lower back pain
  • Diabetic foot management
  • Recurrent stress fractures of the foot

How are ours different?

The Orthotic Clinic specialises in custom-made foot orthotics manufactured from rubber compounds instead of rigid plastic materials to provide you with the most appropriate balance of cushioning and support for your lifestyle. So, whether you’re younger or older, bigger or smaller, marathon runner or Sunday stroller, we’ll find the right combination for you.

We also believe that no one knows your feet better than the practitioner you have your consultation with. For this reason, our orthotists personally cast your feet in plaster and manufacture your orthotics. We never outsource them to laboratories, where the staff that manufacture them have never even met you, let alone seen your feet. That just doesn't make sense to us. Our processes ensure that all orthotics are specifically designed for your foot shape and meet the highest possible standards. Having your orthotics made on-site also means you will be walking in them sooner.

What if they're not right?

At The Orthotic Clinic, we appreciate that people are different. Some may need several adjustments to their orthotics in the weeks following their fitting, while others may need none at all. If you need additional adjustments, we don't think it's fair to charge you for these extra consultations. That's why all clients fitted with custom-made orthotics have up to three reviews available to use anytime and for any reason in the three months following their fitting, at no additional cost.
